Dr Agolley is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, with a special interest in sports hip and knee surgery, hip and knee preservation surgery, and hip and knee replacement surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and member of the Australian and British Orthopaedic Associations.
Dr Agolley's journey in the medical field began with a diverse international background. Born to Ghanean and Chinese parents in London, UK, he later migrated to Melbourne in the 1980s. He earned his academic stripes by graduating with distinction, completing a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class research honours from Monash University, followed by a medical degree from The University of Newcastle in 2002.
His pursuit of excellence continued through rigorous Orthopaedic Specialist training within the Australian Orthopaedic Association Advanced Training Scheme based in Sydney. This training exposed him to advanced elective and trauma surgical techniques under the mentorship of leading orthopaedic surgeons in Sydney, Melbourne, and regional areas of New South Wales and Victoria.
Dr Agolley's commitment to staying at the forefront of orthopaedic knowledge led him to complete two prestigious fellowships in London, UK. These fellowships were hosted by internationally acclaimed institutions, including University College Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital, and the Institute of Sport and Exercise Health. Here, he honed his skills by treating a diverse range of patients, from amateur and professional athletes to the general public.
His fellowships focused on a broad spectrum of advanced surgical techniques, including the management of hip and knee sports injuries, young adult hip dysplasia, hip impingement, hip arthroscopy, periacetabular osteotomy, and complex hip replacement, including the direct anterior approach. He also became well-versed in complex hip and knee primary and revision joint replacement, total and partial knee replacement, hip and knee sports surgery, hip and knee arthroscopy, Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral tears, ACL reconstruction, knee ligament reconstruction, knee cartilage treatment, and knee osteotomy.
Dr Agolley's commitment to education is evident through his role in teaching medical students from Griffith and Bond universities in Queensland, as well as University College London Hospitals in London, UK. He extends his knowledge to training orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and nurses in both Australia and the UK.
