Booking Your Obstetric Appointment
Once your pregnancy is confirmed by your GP, request a referral to one of our obstetricians. Please note, obstetricians do not book appointments for you, you will need to contact us directly.
What you’ll need for booking:
- Name of your chosen obstetrician
- Reason for admission: pregnancy
- Health fund membership and policy details
- GP’s details
- Emergency contact details
- Medications information

Find an Obstetrician
20-Week Midwife Appointment
Around 20 weeks, you’ll have a consultation with one of our midwives. This appointment is a great opportunity to:
- Ask questions about your birth and hospital stay
- Record your antenatal history
- Prepare for your upcoming stay
You’ll receive a comprehensive maternity information pack and can also book antenatal classes during this visit. Don’t forget to bring your health fund membership details to confirm your level of cover and any excess or co-payments.
Health Fund and Insurance Information
Health insurance is an important part of planning for your baby’s arrival. Gold Coast Private Hospital has agreements with all major health funds to minimise out-of-pocket costs, but it’s important to know:
- Neonatal care is not automatically covered unless family cover has been in place for at least three months.
- Singles cover may only cover one baby during a multiple birth; family cover is recommended.
We encourage you to contact your health fund early to avoid unexpected costs. If you are uninsured, call (07) 5530 0726 to discuss fees.
After your pre-admission consultation, you’ll receive a detailed estimate of costs, including any excess or co-payments, so you can plan with confidence.
