The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development Program (QA & CPD) includes the promotion of GP participation in effective and efficient quality assurance and continuing professional development by encouraging and identifying high quality activities for GPs.

Our dedicated continuation of education programs assist general practitioners to fulfil their accreditation criteria set out by the RACGP.

Diagnosing DDH: A harness in time saves a hip replacement in their prime

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify babies at risk for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and the older child at risk of a missed dislocation or dysplasia.
  2. Describe how to clinically screen for DDH.
  3. Determine which children should be sent for further investigations such as an USS or Xray.
  4. Recognize when to refer to Paediatric Orthopaedics for assessment.
  5. Explain the rationale and principles of treatment to families with a baby or child you are referring with suspected DDH.
